are you supposed to keep baits urine bto and lure frozen in off season to keep it fresh, store in cool dark place or just leave it out at ambient temperature?

Cool dark is my go to.Grandpa used to make his own fox lures and he had a little tini shed in the yard right out in the sun-stunk like crazy.
