They used to be a thing. Starters and relief pitchers both. The good ones were untouchable..........even gave their catchers fits trying to catch them.

But don't hear much about them these days. Or junk ballers either for that matter.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

It appears Matt Waldron is the only one in MLB right now.

They’ve become somewhat more common the last couple years. By somewhat more common, I mean you hear them mention one rarely. But not long ago it was a pitch only referenced in years past. I see them quite a bit in school ball. Not good ones, but they’re still tough to hit.

There are quite a few pitchers that throw a knuckle-curve.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

There are a few. Many players have some version of a knuckle ball in their arsenal. You see position players throw them a lot when they pitch in blow out games.

My boys Paul and Mathew would always though wild pitchs ....

Most inside to scare the batter, thinking he would be hit.
Then strike them out......Head Games.....

Not many true knuckle ball pitchers in thee MLB these days, but many pitchers are throwing knuckle curves and there are a few more each year that work on developing that pitch. The fact that the ball rotates differently and also breaks considerably makes the pitch hard to make solid contact on, even if the velocity is not what many other pitches are at.

Catchers used an oversized mitt to catch a really good knuckle baller. Hoyt Wilhelm was one of the best knuckle ballers that I remember. His speed wasn't much over 60, but the ball was all over the place. That's why most catchers didn't like to catch him.

Wife: That's the 4th time you've gone back for dessert, doesn't that embarrass you? Me: No, I keep telling them it's for you.
