So, what's eveyone tips tricks and general advice when it comes to camping in the butt crack of the US....I mean the southeast Seriously all these videos I watch of of camping are only in nicer places up north/ Midwest. But never any talk of dealing with fire ants , chiggers , and all the other wonders of nature in the south . So , what y'all got ?

Best tip I've discovered is to go north, specifically to the tops of the Georgia, Tennessee mountains. Ten degrees cooler up there.

WolfDog, Don't you live, hunt, fish, and trap in the southeast?
You know what's in these woods.
If ya scared, say ya scared.

Coon hunting, catfishing, up early slipping into the turkey woods just general woods bumming had me in the woods more than not. Heck as kids we were constantly piling limbs making shelters and forts.
I guess that why the whole tent half a dozen cooler thing isn't as appealing. I got all that and have taken the wife and kids but I'd much rather head out with what I can tote in a small backpack. Yeaahhhh that's my deal right now wife wants to camp but realizing my version and hers are two different things I'm thinking " man get a lil 1 man tent like I had in the army, try to keep my truck under 20, catch some fish by the lake ect" Her.....well ... We went to bass pro , "just a tent" went to a air mattress, which went to a gas stove , which want to coolers and all that jazz. Not full out "glamping" but 90% sure a large part of our trip would be her in a chair reading on her Kindle

Hammock tents keep you off the ground, away from ants, ticks, snakes, chiggers, wet muddy ground. Love hammock tents when in the swamps in Florida.
