Well on Monday I picked up some more traps from an older trapper for 100$. Here's what I all got. I got 29 pogos + driver, 42 #2 square jaw victors, 7 assorted 1.5 longspring, 2 #2 Victor double longsprings, 64 assorted 1.5 coilsprings, 2 #2 Victor jumps, 1 #3 Montgomery dogless, 13 #1.5 Victor jumps. Not a bad haul for $100, I assigned the pogos a value of $10 and that left me with $90 which came out to 68 cents a trap. It sucks that it has come to this point where traps are going for almost scrap price. Most of the traps are in really good shape but just a few little things here and there like pans and some chains that need to be replaced. Most of the 1.5s are Dukes that are almost brand new. I didn't need any more traps but they will make great traps to go on floats or the one I don't want will be donated to the SDTA auction at next year's fall convention.

That is a very good deal. Did he set the price or did you make the offer? Just curious.

He had the price set, I wouldn't have even talked to him since I didn't need them anyway but for the price, I figured it was worth it.

Sounds like an older trapper wanted to do a younger trapper a favor and see his gear going to somebody who would use it. Good luck with your new traps!

You made a great deal.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Good stuff, and he’ll be happy they’re going into a trappers hands!
At the NTA national, a fella was the winning bidder on all these boxes of older smaller traps. Our table was wondering what the heck his game plan was. Afterwards he gave them all away to any youngster that wanted traps. Bunch of what looked like 6-12 year olds came up. Very nice!

Hay do him a favor and include him in trapping conversations. Stop once in a while to show firs that you have taken. Just because he can't go trapping anymore doesn't mean he is not interested......jk

Sure does. Stop by every once in a while and tell the gentleman some of your trapping stories. He'll probably have some great advice also

The best way to honor him is to put those traps to work.

I wish I could but he lives 2 hours away and in an area, I'm never close to otherwise I would.

I saw that, it was a very nice gesture for him. I found a B&L 1.5 CS on the ground at the nationals and gave it to a kid.

It was fully repaired, which took us about two months. The frame did have a bend behind the driver's side wheel, but we got it into a 1/8". We found a parts pickup with most of the front clip, fuse box, etc. we needed for $200, and we had to buy a new fender. We did get it back to stock, and then I put all of my aftermarket stuff back on it. I'm still looking for good front fender liners since the non OEM ones are very flimsy. I also got it tinted a couple of weeks ago. I got the note paid off on it from the insurance money and then still had enough to get it back to stock. I think I had around $1,200 into aftermarket stuff. We also got that front bumper replacement from another truck we bought to resell and I think only had around $350 of non insurance money into the bumper replacement.
