Not to pick it apart but that appears to be a Winchester model 1887 lever action shotgun. I do enjoy the old photos that get posted.

But my guess is still logging camp sourced siding and shingle and since that don't travel far or last long so I'm going to say some sort of quickly built, possibly temporary camp/town. Possible gold rush town? But those aren't mining clothes either but would explain the fancy duds if they hit it rich.

i will agree that the siding and roofing are from the saw mill,most towns had one. and a few bars, its daylight out so you will see few if any sawmill worker or loggers they will show up once its dark as they work all day.them in picture keep peace in bar.

I've seen plenty of semi crappy cabins/houses sided with cant's in the Ozarks, not 1/2 bad looking from a distance.
