Been a terrible year for seen big game for me. I haven't seen any moose, nothing to speak for deer or elk wondering through my place. A strange year all around with nature in my opinion. Turkeys have disappeared don't see the crows and eagles like I should be for this time of year. Fishing has been a slow, slow bite also. This time of year, the eyes should be jumping in the boat but isn't happening either. The only thing I notice is a huge number of pheasants.

Some of the big game just have a lot of cover and a lot of corn and crops are still out so some like the deer maybe just hanging out in the corn. Anyone else seem to be noticing a low number of sightings of game than from other years???

Because of the heat we have been having, the critters here are staying where it is shady and damp. Tons of acorns here too so no need for them to be out in the open. It is very dry here and we are setting up for a heck of a Fall fire season.

I have nothing clever to put here.

True, yep so dry here fire is a everyday thing of concern. Humidity has been under 20% a lot and just the other day I seen it was 10%.

All I’m hearing from southern Montana is everything but does are pretty much nocturnal due to the dry hot summer and fall. It will change, but not for a while it appears.

There's still a good amount of whitetails on the ranch that surrounds us as usual. Not seeing elk though, a few moose. Just filling up our pond, about 1/10 acre, just a little farm pond but I've been wanting this for years. So I'm hoping the deer jump the fence and come check it out, I'm sure a couple would love love to stay. Only have 6 acres but the deer do cross us. And with the pond now I don't think it will be long before the mallards find it

Well, I'm happy to hear that my observations aren't just me.

so, kansas for deer is about 50% or less than it was in 2009. The public areas are worse.....two doe tags go with each nr buck tag and that has taken its toll, I believe.

If I am reading this years rules correct I can only shoot two deer on public land......but I can buy tags for 6.

Whitetails in yard every day. 4 bucks. 2 ruffed grouse in yard this morning. Lots of huns and blue grouse. No bears in yard - no chokecherries this year. Elk everywhere.

T agree with you Snowy, If it was just nocturnal movements, I'd at least have late night photos on the trail cam. But with no photos and no sign, something is very, very weird.

Elk everywhere down in this part of the state, 30 miles North of Boise. About 100 pass through the yard most days the last month or so. Several good bulls. More grouse than normal in the surrounding hills as well.

Slow here in MO most critters are moving at night. Seen a few doe and fawns I had a spike at 10 yards today totally clueless but he’s safe with the antler point system in this county.

Set up a cam at one location the other day it’s had a decent 4X4 on it every night but it’s the middle of the night when he’s coming through every time. Yotes howling late morning today and gobbler gobbled several times.

Heading back to SD soon will come back before the rifle opener closer to the rut and cooler weather was not my idea to hunt this early but that was the set up.

Saw one bull. Ten days of hunting. Had a cow tag. Saw no deer.cut trip short and Came home to finish my house. Moving in now. A nice big cow would have been nice, but winters coming fast and I can never get time off work, so I tried to sneak home. Wasn't in home Depot ten minutes and boss had me pegged. Sorry bud, but if it's elk season and I cut the trip short, it wasn't to come back to work.

I gave two young guys a chance/start in a contracting business from Horseshoe Bend ID. They ended up making a very successful business from a very humble start.

That is beautiful country Horseshoe Bend.
