In a travel trailer! The first one was Hurricane Sandy up in Connecticut years ago. That was nothing compared to Helene last week. I was down just east of Augusta, Georgia working the Vogtle nuke when that hit. It was my last day at the plant and I had to ride it out in my 30' travel trailer that night. No damage but I sure was rocking and rolling for a while there. I was more worried about tornados than anything. I left last Friday afternoon and it took me 15 hours to get home. Trees blocking the left lane of the highway for 3 states. I couldn't even head West through NC. The state was closed. I hope I don't have to go through that again. Prayers for the people effected.

Glad you made it home, Finster.
An entire state being closed is just crazy. I hope nobody has to ever go through that again!

Bet that was a ride for sure. Was the trailer hooked to the truck?

Nope. I just pulled in the slide out so that didn't get damaged. I was in a field so I was not worried about trees. I, for some idiotic reason, forgot to fill my fresh water tank though. Couldn't get a shower the next day and had to use bottled water to flush the crapper. I'll tell you one thing. If I do outages down South in hurricane season again, I'm taking a generator and not forgetting to fill my fresh water. If anything more powerful than that is going to hit, I'm pulling out and heading North.

Well, it wasn’t “supposed” to be that bad over there.

I think the eye, which was pretty much still intact, passed about 20 miles West of me. We got hit pretty hard but oddly enough, not a ton of rain. I think only a few inches. We got mostly wind.

You were on the bad side. That side gets the wind the other the rain.

Honestly, you were lucky not to get flipped over.
