Saw it, great flick.

I'm at the part where the buyer is only offering $3 for a beaver hide. Not much has changed. Actually, it's worse now. $3 is probably equivalent to 5x that it is today

Try 35 times more money. A dollar in 1835 had the purchasing power of $35 in today's money. So that poor ol' mountain man was being offered a scant $105 per plew! LOL

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Exactly.

My other hobby interest (which really conflicts with trapping/hunting) is fragrances.
These mountain men would be wearing 'Yatagan' by Caron edt. I presume . The fragrance resembles sagebrush on fire with a little bit of leather. Idk how Stetson got to be the "cowboys" frag. Smells like baby powder. Just proves the power of marketing.

Really tics me off. I could never justify 3k for a coat, myself. So I buy pre-owned. I really appreciate y'all keeping trapping alive. In spite of how insulting the price they pay for them

Make trapping great again!

The premier for this movie was at an NTA convention, I believe it was at Rutland, VT in 1980.
