Wade is a friend of mine and I believe he won’t mind me adding a fresh post to this thread. I reread this very thread early last fall and when I got to my old post in here where I said I wonder why I don’t use more blind sets, I’ve generally been pleased that I did, well, the light bulb went on.
So last December I put in this blind trail set with a #3 Bridger. The little bare dirt spot in pic is where the trap is bedded. Pan is dead center in the trail. I figured the flat bare dirt made a nice spot to step. This the the trail as it passed through tall grass and an on fencerow. Behind me when I took this pic is cut corn and there were cat tracks going to and from this trail so using it.
The grassy strip actually connects two sections of timber, great cat habitat.
Two nights and checks later had this cat.
Yes, I’ve generally been very happy when I put blind sets in.
This December I’ll run a few more.

Not a great pic here but the catch on that cat was solid. Animals walking into blind sets are not suspecting anything and you get full weight commitment with each step. That makes for solid catches.

Most of my coyote catches anymore come from blind sets. We have lots of fences on the farms I trap. I am afraid to set snares due to neighbors with high dollar coon hounds.

I started blind setting near the fence crossings with the traps on drags. I have caught a lot this way.
