Hey guys I am wrapping up on my attempt to mount my gator head that’s been in the freezer for a while. I originally planned to do a European mount but thought why not attempt skin on? Even if I obliterate it I can still resort back to skull mount. I tried to keep it as close to natural as I possibly could. I still have to stain the base, clear coat the head to give it the wet look and add the fake palmetto leaves around it. This is my first attempt at taxidermy on an alligator and would like some input from you guys.

Have a couple as skulls I've done, MIGHT try what you've done next time.

That is pretty cool and far better than I could do.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Looks awesome to me but I have never seen a live gator.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I can honestly say I did it right. I cut out every bit of meat and trust me there was plenty of it! I used an oscillating tool to cut the roof of the mouth out to remove all the meat and membrane inside. I cut the bottom lower jaw bones so I could remove meat in there as well. Installed eyes, let it dry then rebuilt everything with urethane foam and apoxie sculpt.

Would definitely make Chubs jump out the window!

It appears to me you have got a great start to taxi work. Looks realistic, good work.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I do utility work as a trade but I am an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. I got tired of making my taxidermist rich so I decided to learn a new skill. I am the least patient person I know but for some reason I have a lot of patience for taxidermy.
