A big forked stick for pinning down from above with a 4 ft handle (think snake fork but bigga) is good to release cat's back-footed and a storage container with an arm hole cut into the top of a side (to be inverted over the top of 4 front leg caught critters)) can save you a lot of scuff marks when releasing a cat.
I know yall don't git much of a season up there and / or been runnin out of tags b4 u run out of cats... easy to make and you can put clean or even dirty gear in it till u need it. The over sized snake fork can be used for lots of trap line logisicals and to hang gear on when u stab it into the muck and the mud or even be a shooting stick on the fly when u need to reach out and count coup on the enemy butt sniffers

Those gals would have to seduce me wid there eyes or their- well you git the picture. If they tried sweet talkin me my stimulational awareness might go into defcon III and I'd crawl up the fence PDQ. Purdy darn quic which IS kid friendly of course. Medical skillz huh- are you full bore vet tech?

I pull my cables stakes with a pick. Is one with one narrow point one wider hoe type blade. The small point is ground down so I can get the point in number 2 machine chain if need to. I usually put the chain in a notch ground in the wide end. Then use the pick like you use claw hammer on nail pull cables. If the ground it really heavy. I stomp tile spade down along side the cable then pull towards that side. I break a few cables or pull the ferrel off some. I do have couple places I trapped for many years. Where I left cables in ground. Never will be in anyone way or even be found in my life time.
Last year for the first time I used my 1/2 cordless hammer drill to make dirt holes. Found if I was careful worked good to drill down along side cables then jack the out. Get to close can get twisted up in the auger. Found that out hard way.

LL, If'n she ever says she got just the thing to help you take a nap. Run.... She doesn't mean a restful sleep. She's talking dirt nap.
Or you might wake up with certain things missing and a cone around your neck.

When I was using steel stakes I took a piece of 2X4 steel channel about 4 inches long stood it upright drilled a hole in one end added chain then cut a slot to slip under the stake washer at the other end. Just drive the slot under the washer head put the loop of chain in the handiman jack hook and pump it a few times.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I use rebar 3/8 with 1/2 inch nuts beat on the tops
my driver , puller , digger is a 28oz estwing framing hammer that I opened up the claw on a little with the angle grinder so it fit on the rebar to pull the stakes
it still pulls nails fine also , I only modified the last part of it
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
