Good Lawd, mine had their own firearms in their own rooms since they were 10. And they knew where I kept a revolver incase of an emergency.
How about a law that if your kids don’t have a firearm and know how to use it, then you’re subject to jail time and a fine. It could be a a child welfare type of law. Parents putting children in danger by not teaching them.

I'm going to tell you I would never meet any requirements they would want for safe storage. I mean ther is the shower gun, toilet gun bed side gun, door guns, car guns, ect..

I never had the need to keep anything locked up where the kids can't get to it. Now out of reach when they are very small I'd a no brainer but when they have shown they are more responsible than 90% of big gun guys I have been around normally that was by 8. How would they take care of varmits or run their traps if they could not get access? I could not imagine having a kid I raised I could not trust. Could have something to do with starting them around 4 to 5 when they started showing interest.

now the above is long guns they shoot handguns and have their own but that is always supervised use still.
