Where pit bull defenders loose me, is whenever they can talk about all the other meaner breeds. Pits are great dogs, but they have skills and tools that make them deadly when that switch trips. If a chihuahua was built like a pit bull, they would be at the top of the list on human fatalities, but pit bulls are.

Not the dogs fault the owner is an idiot. They are a working dog and have specific jobs they excel at. They should be used for those job. People are just stupid

Are you saying you have 100 % control over an animals mind and thought process?

A dog whisperer maybe ?

I don't particularly believe that age old adage that there are no bad dogs, only bad owners.

We've had several pit bulls and crosses of pit bulls show up around the place, they show up in packs of 4 to 6 and belong to a guy about a mile away the way a crow flies. His dogs are always up to no good when they come around
They corner livestock and kill chickens every time. They even cornered the neighbor last fall while he was out dove hunting. He called and said he needed help immediately and to bring a rifle. No need to elaborate further.

When they're running in a pack, they're not looking for someone to throw a ball for them, they're looking to do damage.
Even if they're alone I'm going to watch them very closely and take appropriate action as needed.

I personally have no use for the breed.

A number of years ago a guy moved in a mile down the road that had about 10 of those (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) things. He kept them well fenced, but I told him if one ever showed up at my place I would shoot it dead and then call him to come get it. He fortunately moved away before that happened.

There are good dogs and there are dogs that need a lead head.

I would be disappointed in myself for not being armed. Then again, even without a gun I could find a way to shorten that dogs life. Dont blame the breed. Most of the dogs Ive owned were 1/2 pit. My wife's dog was pure bred pit. There wasn't anything anyone or thing could do to bring out aggression in this dog.

There was a young child attacked last year in my town by three dogs that were unrestrained in the back of a pickup. The child survived, and the owner got his dogs back. This is why you kill them in the act.

These dogs that the pitbull attacked were 100 lb pyrenees, that didn't fight back.If i didn't help by kicking that pitbull
it is hard to say what would of happened! these folks, they were 75 to 80 years old. If you want to own a dog that likes to fight,Keep it pen up.
Believe me i was looking for something to hit that dog with,A person walking their dogs on a lease should not have to protect themselves
from loose dogs.

There are somewhere around 14 million pitbull like dogs in the US, depending on who you listen to.

https://pangovet.com/statistics/pit-bull-statistics/#:~:text=There%20are%20about%2014%20million%20Pit%20Bull-type%20dogs,they%20make%20up%20about%2020%25%20of%20American%20canines.

Obviously most don't cause any harm at all or mutilated and dead people would be littered around all over.

I don't have any desire to have a pitbull. I don't think they should be illegal. I do think owners should be held strictly liable for damage done by their dogs, which they already are, if the current laws are enforced.

A gal I know from work had her two year old daughter killed by a pit bull at daycare. The people got the dog and didnt tell anyone. The dog was kept outside in backyard but somehow got inside and killed the little girl.

Couple months ago my 70 year old brother was attacked by a pit bull that broke its owners leash. My brother was airing a tire at a gas station. He stabbed the dog in ribs repeatedly with the air chuck while the dog hung from my brothers stomach by its teeth. Owner couldn’t provide proof of rabies vaccination so brother had to get post exposure shots.

Pit bulls should not be around people, period. Doesn’t matter if it’s junk dog or junk owner. Risk is too great. Any dog can bite, but pits are bread to finish the fight.

Just ignore their instinct and u can convince yourself they are the gentlest dog around..... well right up until their instinct is triggered. And we all know what they were originally bred for even if we pretend we dont

I see a parallel here. You guys talk about pit bulls in the same way the left talks about guns. Oh the irony.

Like I e already stated, I've owned several pits, they were excellent dogs. Would never hurt a fly, let alone a child. Chickens are another story. Sorry if you can't see the similarities

That is very similar to what every single pit owner has said after their dog(s) had severely mauled or killed someone, usually a kid, sometimes their own kids.

Eh...wot?

My .243 has (and will) never run out of my yard and bite/maul a person or animal.
