Spent the rainy day indoors making this batch of applesauce. Ended up with 11 quart jars, 23 pint jars some for dinner and one sorry pint that had to go in the garbage because the jar broke in the canner.

It's so good that it needs no sugar at all added.

We always used to add sugar when we seved it, but a few.years ago we hit on a apple combo that made that completely unnecessary. 1/3 honeycrisp, 1/3 johnagold, 1/3 empire.

They are harvest gaurd reusable lids. You can get them in white or red. Both colors are the same except for the color. They recommend the red for canning tomato products because the tomatoes stain the white ones. This is my first year using them so just I got the red ones to start.

Hard to tell, I would guess a year to year and a half. My Mom helped me with some of it so I will leave her some. We don't do it every year, but last time we did we did 3 bushels and it lasted 2 years. But it was all in quart jars that time and with just my wife and I, we found that it was a little too much most of the time and sometimes a little was left over and would sit in the fridge, sometimes getting eaten in a couple days sometimes eventually getting thrown out. So this time I only Did 1 and a half bushels and canned a lot of it in pints.

Good looking batch, Dana I! I'm going to sauce the apples on my tree soon. i always add brown sugar to my kettle, as well as cinnamon and one other ingredient......a bag or two of cinnamon redhots.
