that is a shame

we are mostly releases birds , we pay a pheasant stamp and the DNR releases birds at a number of public lands.
you see a lot of retired guys during the week

there are game farms for the folks who want to pay.

The last few years they ran a paid hunt operation in the section down the road from me with released birds I’d winter a bunch of the ones they missed or clipped they would run 3 groups a day through there often. Not sure how the hunters did not catch on the place must of been trampled from the traffic, shells all over if they did not pick them up. LOL

This was a high dollar hunt with deluxe accommodations but this is what pheasant hunting has come to now. It was as big as the deer openers in WI and MI with cars/trucks everywhere opening weekend now it’s vans and suburbans.

just cause people have money and fancy guns don't mean they can hit nothin

one of my 4-H shooting sports kids works for a big contractor now that does big municipal projects .
he is a project manager and hangs out with the management crew they go on pheasant hunts at game farms and they love him as he shoots clean up on a lot of their misses , I don't think too many of the other young project managers go on these hunts , it sounds like senior management mostly. But when they find out you can shoot.
a few times they invited his dad along , one of our shotgun instructors , again cleans up their misses.

WI is the first Saturday on or after 10/15

most all seasons in WI start on a Saturday

that way season openers have minimal work/school impact

Our resident only public land opener was last weekend. Lot of corn in but got a couple monday. This weekend is gonna be hot, too hot for the dog for very long in my opinion. SD does have a boatload of public ground, permission on good private stuff is somewhat hard.
Ill be ready to go at 8 bells next weekend in Iowa. Never miss it.

I’ve never hunted over bird dogs…I run coonhounds and can only imagine what happens when they turn on the switch. I’m not usually there to personally see them when it clicks. The instinct typically turns on out of view. Best you can do is listen to the music and encourage it once you get there…take a dog hunting…you’ll never regret it!!
