Why can’t guides carry firearms for bear protection?

I was talking to a guy today that has made a couple of trips to B.C. and was telling me about the close encounters with grizzlies and that his guide wasn’t allowed to carry a gun while guiding. I didn’t know if it was a B.C. thing or what.

Got to be careful with the wording. Can’t carry a gun for protection here, but can carry a gun to go for a walk in the bush.

Absolutely they can and do. For protection/dispach. National Parks is a different story.
It’s in the Wildlife Act what they can all do. Didn’t you run an outfitting service JP? …..lol

I think this might be it. Our bear guides only carried a gun when tracking.

For black bear, you’re generally in the stand by yourself aren’t you? There’s a lot of guides that get the course and certification that shouldn’t be in the bush. The new guide my bud hired said he didn’t have to fill the bait barrels. “I’m a licensed guide”….”well then you can leave, I have no use for you”…lol
Again, it’s written in the Wildlife Act, self/client protection. Guys just don’t read it.
