I am 66 and a half. Maybe I just can't remember.
I have met and gotten to know a number of people who I consider heroes, either from what they have done that actually matters in life, or who helped me become a man, which to me supersedes any "famous" celebrity or sports icon.
Carlos Hathcock comes to mind. He never considered himself a hero nor a celebrity nor famous. He would say to me that he was just doing his job.

I can’t disagree with any of that. Certainly never said I idolized them, I’m always just fascinated by folks who know others that a lot of folks have heard about for any number of reasons or the path that life takes to be introduced to folks like that.

I would say personally knowing ‘White Feather’ is pretty dang cool. I’d hs e to assume he was a man’s man with very regimented beliefs based on what I’ve read about him.

Your assumption is dead on. He was a very serious man, but had a great sense of humor as well. He would laugh so hard at something I'd say until he'd start choking on his own spit, then he's say something that made the next guy do that same thing.

I knew Dick Trickle personally and he sampled food off my plate at a wild game feed at a friend's house. I accidentally bumped into Annekka De Lorenzo at a bar and restaurant. She was then the Penthouse Pet of the Year. I did not realize who she was until the bartender told me who she was. Kirk Hibbert and his son Tucker fixed us an outdoor breakfast over a campfire at our hunting camp one morning .I met Paul Dobbins at several trapping conventions. Trapstickman is a close acquaintance of mine.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Went to college with Arnold Schwartzenegger.

Met Dick Vandyke in a bar outside of Minneapolis. He was on the wagon.

Met Richard Simmons in a hotel in Chicago. The plate on his Caddy read "R U 2 Fat"

I am so proud.
