Good stripes on most of them this fall with minimal yellow tinting on a few the result of a dryer half of the summer. But in the wet years the yellowing can be dominant impacting the majority of the skunks. This is #21 and #22 from the same place heck the only place that’s producing skunks since that die off a couple of years ago.

Seeing a few on the roads now they bounce back pretty easy being a prolific breeder and it will just get better in the next few years. 100-125 a year was common several years back. I talked to the State Vet years back and I told her I was getting an extreme number of adult skunks and her words were there’s a die off coming and we had some dips but nothing like the last one.

I’ll take all the skunks I can get they have always been a staple for me with little competition, in fact other trappers have called me to deal with their skunks and I’m glad to do it for the skunks of course. LOL

Beautiful. When I get the chance I'm going to figure out how to fix this yellowing issue. I know y'all can't invest too much money in these hides. Selling them and all. I however want them for myself and I want to see what I can do to upgrade them.

I am really bitter we can't legally harvest road kill here. So many beautiful hides I pass up all the time D'X

I'm really curious what these fur buyer's use them for. All the skunk coats I see are always vintage fur. Rarely ever see anything new on the market.
However it's my dream to make one myself

Not at all? In PA if the animal is in season and you have a Furtaker license you can legally pick it up. If not in season you have to contact the game commission and there is a fee depending on the type of animal. I went through that this summer.

Not sure what I’ll do with the ones I don’t already have sold I sell out every year as I have markets in place nothing goes to waste but with the low numbers it’s tough filling what Ive got line up already. Pelts, essence, pods, fat, skulls all get used. Carcasses go to the landfill because of the acetone in the pole process.

You got nice skunks in your section LD.
I am always happy to catch one of our little skunks in a mink box.

A sample of a nicely remodeled skunk hide. I do the whole remodel so the ladies get a nice deal when they purchase one. Also clean and sell the skulls
Save the smell to donate to a good cause here.

The toe tags normally have the name of the critter on them except for skunk. They are so pretty I call them FLOWERS. Get a few smiles from that.
