had to get a new vehicle this summer.
Thought about a pickup.
Dropped that idea real fast after looking into it.

Ideally I would of liked a 3/4 ton plan jane, sorry nobody makes one anymore.
They all come loaded with lots of unnecessary stuff, that runs up the cost.
Starting price is about $45K. If they ditched all the crap I'd bet they could cut the cost 10-15K.

I don't have to have one, I have uses for one only a few times a year.
hard to find a pickup with a 8ft bed now days.
Its pretty sad that a MINIvan can carry a 4 x 8 sheet of ply inside and you have to hang the tailgate down on a truck.

Trucks arel the family station wagon from years ago, most don't even carry more than a bag of groceries now.

I have an 06 ram 2500 diesel manual transmation , I'll top it off in the am headed to a sheep hunt and have almost 600 miles range towing the side by side and camp gear. I can't go over 70 tho and only one hill slows me down on this route but its an 8% grade and super curvy climb

You do know only maker out there that has a tried and true decade old engine is a Chevy right. 327 is what’s in my 2022 Silverado and wife’s Yukon. Keep your turbo charged wannabes.

Had a 2010, a 2016, and now a 2022 gmc sierra 1500 SLT each and had zero issues with each. My 2022 has some pretty cool features. Nicest trucks I’ve owned and do everything I need them to do.

Before these I owned a few ford F150s and a dodge dakota. All of those had issues.

I love the GMCs and won’t go back to the other makes or models. The 2022 so far is my favorite.

Jim

That Ford Ranger sounds pretty good. Still driving a 2000 F150 with 468K on her. She gets a yearly checkup and even if it’s several hundred bucks it’s still cheaper than a new gal.

Hard telling what your going to get with any vehicle, I bought a 2019 Ford F-250 XLT, In 2020, with 19,000 on it, just hit 25,000 & no problems. In 2021, my daily driver died, I bought a 2019 Ford F-150 XLT, with 17,000 on it. at about 24,000, it started use a lot of oil, brought it back to the dealer, they replaced the oil switch & dip stick. telling me it's had the wrong amount of oil in it. they said drive it for a thousand miles & keep an eye on the oil level, still went thru oil, so I had seen Ford had a oil consumption problem with the 5 liter Coyote engine, I went back & confronted the owner of the dealership & told him what was going on, needless to say, a month later, Ford installed a new long block at 26,000 miles. found out later, Ford had over board some engines causing oil blow by. I installed an oil catch can & had been dry since. hopefully no more problems, as I'm done buying vehicles.

Don’t know about the eco boost in a truck, but the one in my daughter’s mustang is a sporty little engine with plenty of power. I’m a diesel guy if I’m towing I’m hooked to my powerstroke. Eric

Exactly why I am driving a 1999 Tacoma and trying to keep it going as long as possible

I would not give 1/2 of sticker price for the junk they all produce today
