My first saw was a Poulan, it was junk. The only 3 saws I would ever buy would be Stihl, Husky, and Jonsered.
I only use chisel chain; cuts much faster than semi chisel.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

so then there are only 2 saws you would buy

Jonsered is no more , They changed the name to Redmax and cut the product line back
it looks like the GZ7100 is the Jred 2166 , it is the same case and 71cc which is the Husky 365xp

the Jred was for the last 20 years or so , a red case husky

the Jred 2255 and the Husky 455 rancher are the same saw different colors very slight variation in the grip

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Brand loyal.
Petes saws,
1 has the crank case separate from the
cylinder casting, 1 does not.
Both same brand, same color,
way different engine designs.
BUT, since jred is popular on the web both
top grade saws right?

Not all jreds had husky clones.
Parts are difficult.
If a parts source opened up
please let me know.

Right. I owned a Jonsered once, a 49er. Was a great saw. If I found a used one, I'd probably buy it. I own a Husky leaf blower and a Husky weed trimmer. They both run and start great. I know people who have Husky chain saws and love them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

Far as the chisel cutting better,
I agree. BUT for those that
can not sharpen it semi-chisel
is the better choice.

The little I've used semi chisel, I did feel it doesn't get dull as quickly as chisel chain does.

I like full chisel I also found the number of people who have no idea they dip the end of the bar in the dirt and that used to be me

I cut in deep snow a few times and was amazed how I just didn't get dull 3-4-5 tanks of gas I used to touch up after every other tank of gas.

then I paid attention to that tip a lot more , and would cut 2/3 of the way through all the way down a log , then cut all the way through just as often as I needed to roll the log , roll it and cut all those 1/3rds

got back to 3-4 tanks before a chain needed a touchup

I cut with a hired hand at the farm one time and he was so bad it was sub tank of gas to dull chain I sharpened his chain 2-3 times then I watched him a couple cuts and saw what he was doing to dull it so fast.
he had never realized a chain could cut so fast till he used one of mine , apparently he cut firewood with his family all the time , you know some thing is wrong when a guy is used to moving a chainsaw back and forth like it is a hand saw.

sometimes use the second smaller saw to cut the sections apart to roll them less to sharpen and if I only use it for a few through cuts after limbing I can not sharpen the big saw at all until I am home again
2-3 tanks of gas has the truck loaded well beyond capacity.

I have something like 17 chainsaws give or take one or two.

If I was buying new, husky xp models are hard to beat, absolutely love my husqy 550xp.

But I have not run the 550xp in a few years because I have a condition known as chainsaw addiction disorder (CAD). And I am going to disagree with the statement that Poulans are junk. New ones are cheap and disposable, but some screamer good saws have had poulan written on the side. I have a 415 that I will run with about any saw in its class. And I have a 330 that is a real saw, cut beside many stihls and kept up fine. These are older saws though.

If you are buying new, again, 550xp is a dream machine and the smallest xp I would run a 20” bar on, and is a great smooth high revving efficient saw that doesnt weigh as much as the bigger ones.

I know Im not much help. But as a wife-diagnosed CAD sufferer I had to chime in.

Not chainsaw but for you guys frustrated by snowmobile commercials with tiny pelican sleds of wood.
