I saw one this summer at a convention, and it was really neat. Give us the low-down on these unique traps. What kind of traps can be made, and how much would they cost?

They are plastic, I would think the cold would make them brittle. Especially in the more northern states. I think they're for wall hanging only. I saw one, and it looks really good.

I'm the maker. The big bear trap is a wall hanger/display piece that is not functional but I have some that function like a real trap.

So are the springs plastic? I'd imagine there are materials out there that would hold up but be expensive or just use them to catch faux fur

They only have 1-2 lbs of spring force. They are targeted for kids to learn about setting traps and for classes as I color coded the different parts.

What would you charge for them if you were to offer them for sale?

A dog proof trap that I just finished. A body grip trap is in the future.

While metal traps are produced by hundreds of parts per hour, these are produced by hours per part. For example, it takes 1.5 hours to make the tube for one dog proof trap, 1/2 hour to make a spring for a long spring. I understand the average person may only want one or two for a child, a State Trapping Organization or a State DNR may be interested in a dozen for classes. These traps are completely designed and built by me, no one else's files were used.
The color scheme I use is: Yellow - dog Blue - pan/trigger Green - springs Red - fixed jaw White - loose jaw Black - base plate Pink - spring pin Silver - chain Brown - swivels Purple - spring levers
