Seasons open here Nov 1 but I usually wait until at least after thanksgiving or even December 1st if I can swing it. Nov 1 is way too early for everything here. Been that way as long as I can remember. I used to start early but you get could a few bucks for blue coon or coyotes then. Not at their best yet here until at least December 1 in general. Then I hit it hard for December and maybe first week of January or so then stop as quality usually deteriorates around then. Cat season opens Dec 1 and even that is a bit early for cats. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Ksnow you’re going to need better baskets, and secure them. Nothing like spilling all your gear 10 feet from the truck.
wws Yes, I'll have to work on that. I am borrowing this from a friend, was kinda last minute.

Totes are OK for temporary. They dont hold up long term if carrying heavy load over rough trails. Milk crates attached to the racks are handy, you can pop buckets in and out as needed.(keep your bait and gut buckets on the back so they dont splash in your face when you hit potholes or down beaver trees, lol.) If you get a bed extender for your truck you can haul a bike trailer if needed for longer bike lines. A length of 4 inch PVC pipe, capped can be attached just under the rack to carry spare dry gloves a couple fusees spare dry clothes tools, lunch etc when out for long runs especially beaver trapping. Nothing worse than a long bike ride back to the trailhead in november after a long day of beaver trapping with wet clothes on.

All the riding is on two track farm roads, gravel drives and pastures. Smooth, flat level ground. And dry. If I end up getting my own, I won't stop working on racks until I am happy with them. Good idea with the PVC.

I bought a pair of metal baskets at an auction that a guy had been using on his ATV. The back one is about a foot high. The front one is about 6 inches high. They are almost as wide as the ATV. I fastened them with those metal screw clamps to the frame.
It's been months since I bought the book, "How To Scam People On Line". It still hasn't arrived yet.

There are a lot of mods that are easy to do on a 4 wheeler. Make them removeable for differnt uses seasonally etc. A canoe rack is real handy for not only geting in to fishing spots but also for transporting some building materials etc if building cabins, treestands bike bridges etc. Plowing snow in winter is a major use for my bigger ATV.
