Went to check a trail cam on the lake, the wife was fishing for her cats so I stopped by to see how she’s doing and she hooked a nice one she said you want to reel it in. She likes to “crazy crank” them in and loses the bigger ones so I said I’ll let him work it a bit . It ended up to be a bit shy of #15

Down at the Valentine refuge the Feds poisoned a 450 acre lake and claim they got 360 tons of carp. 1600 pounds per acre. I just can't believe that.

I was at Yellowstone Lake WI last spring , 450 acre lake ,they were netting carp , they were filling semi trailers with the fish to go to a processor of some sort , possibly crude protein.

I don't know what the weight is but it was a Lot of fish

Its a big lake about 7 square miles but it is a quick cycling lake it’s been shallow, deep, dry, covered with cattails then cattails won’t grow for years. It’s deep now but before it flooded the last time 5-6 feet before that.

2 local lakes have carp masters tourney every year... one year some guy caught moby dick he was over 30 lbs he didnt win as its total weight for the 2 days but he got a hundred for biggest... was a great fish to catch for a tourney wish i had pics

Hey Pete I was the guy running the tractor on that operation and we can load between 12,000 and 20,000 pounds depending on water temperature on the live trucks that end up in china town,Brooklyn NY

500-750 pounds per acre is considered a heavy infestation but I’m sure 1600 is possible.

This guy lives across the street from one of my boys. The bait shop only had wax worms so he loaded as many as he could on a hook and caught this

We get die offs when the lake gets low had some bad winter kills over the years. The growth progression is interesting to see how quickly the numbers come back and how much they will grow in just a few years. The wife opens them up for her cats and eggs are always in them not just seasonal like other species of fish.

When coon prices are up and I need cage bait we can fill a few freezers pretty fast catching a bunch in one day will wear a guy out.
