I am normally not for more taxes but it sucks getting priced out of your own area because of a bunch of Chicago money buying up WI

I assume you get similar in parts of MI I know the UP is a mess of it I expect SW MI is similar

Just an update, closed on the cabin last week. So far I have replaced the well pump it was a cheap plastic on that was sounding pretty rough so I put in a cast iron little giant and reinsulated the well house. Replaced the toilet and had the holding tank pumped. We removed all the old carpet, cleaned the yard the previous owners hadn't done much up keep over the last several years. Hauled away 5 or 6 truck and trailer loads of stuff. Our cabin is 4 season so I have the propane company coming on Monday to do an inspection of the system and the following weekend I have a company coming to talk about jacking and leveling it. My wife has been taking pictures I've just been focused on getting it in shape hopefully for ice fishing. I'll get her to send me some pictures to post, it's still rough but we'll get there.

Sounds great.

Advice from someone who has owned a few. Get as far ahead of it as you can. See what you want it to be and get it there.now. Get it to where you show up, shovel or mow, sit back and enjoy with family and friends.
You will always have a “list” of things to get done. It won’t go away. Keep it small, get em done, get back to making memories.
Congratulations.

Congrats, I’d be lost without my cabin. It’s where I go to unwind.

Wild WI,
My advice, tear and rip anything out that you THINK you don't like and make it the way you know it should be and enjoy the time you have your dream place the way you always wanted it to be. You can take or leave the advice how you see fit. I know what I did was not best AFTER I quit trying to make it work the way I found it !

So slow going at the cabin, this is the upstairs before and after, the only thing missing in the after picture is the cover up I did on the door, that's now a chalk board for the kids on rainy days

Nothing like being in a remote area just you and nature. My two cabins are both snowbound now so being closed off from the rest of the world is something I carve and enjoy.

You’ll enjoy your cabin. Lots of work but we’ll worth it!

Remote is where it’s at! Just spent 2 hours snowblowing to get to mine. Only -30 but a few layers and no wind and it wasn’t cold [Linked Image]

Love it!!!! Yep wind is the game changer for many events this time of the year. I agree if no wind -30 isn't bad and tolerable. Great Picture!!!

Yeah it was cheap because it needed a lot of work but it's within an hour of the house. Everything else in our price range was 3hrs +
