Congrats ! Everyone should have a cabin. now if they just had a out of stater tax on cabins , we could charge FIBs 10-15% more on owning a cabin in WI and put it right at Rural school districts and conservation projects I am normally not for more taxes but it sucks getting priced out of your own area because of a bunch of Chicago money buying up WI I assume you get similar in parts of MI I know the UP is a mess of it I expect SW MI is similar
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Just an update, closed on the cabin last week. So far I have replaced the well pump it was a cheap plastic on that was sounding pretty rough so I put in a cast iron little giant and reinsulated the well house. Replaced the toilet and had the holding tank pumped. We removed all the old carpet, cleaned the yard the previous owners hadn't done much up keep over the last several years. Hauled away 5 or 6 truck and trailer loads of stuff. Our cabin is 4 season so I have the propane company coming on Monday to do an inspection of the system and the following weekend I have a company coming to talk about jacking and leveling it. My wife has been taking pictures I've just been focused on getting it in shape hopefully for ice fishing. I'll get her to send me some pictures to post, it's still rough but we'll get there. Sounds great.

Advice from someone who has owned a few. Get as far ahead of it as you can. See what you want it to be and get it there.now. Get it to where you show up, shovel or mow, sit back and enjoy with family and friends. You will always have a “list” of things to get done. It won’t go away. Keep it small, get em done, get back to making memories. Congratulations.

Congrats, I’d be lost without my cabin. It’s where I go to unwind.
Eh...wot?

Nothing like being in a remote area just you and nature. My two cabins are both snowbound now so being closed off from the rest of the world is something I carve and enjoy.

You’ll enjoy your cabin. Lots of work but we’ll worth it! Nothing like being in a remote area just you and nature. My two cabins are both snowbound now so being closed off from the rest of the world is something I carve and enjoy. Remote is where it’s at! Just spent 2 hours snowblowing to get to mine. Only -30 but a few layers and no wind and it wasn’t cold ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-26042-248380-800d4ac4_8b93_4c13_b3f6_8616aff2c73e.jpeg)

Great Picture!!!
