This thread is a good reminder that I need to get the 2 grandsons and the little one on the way some

My daughter is not that into pink either but one Christmas when she was probably 4 she had a "Barbie gun" on her list.

So she got a pink Crickett laugh

the cricket is nice , it is a real shame the https://chuckhawks.com/marlin_915Y.htm marlin is no longer made.
IMO it was the superiors youth 22 single shot rifle yes I have one , well I am giving it to my niece's at Christmas.

it has an almost can't screw it up drop in the slot and it feeds in the chamber loading shroud on the bolt

it has a traditional safety and like other bolt action rifles it is a cok on lift (yes I know I spelled that wrong)

the cricket requires a separate function to cok and it uses a little plastic peice to do it , I get it that it makes it easier for the kid to cycle

as a Guy with XXL fingers anything that makes loading little stuff easier

as an adult with BIg fingers I try and avoid handling ammo , for the most part , the wranglers being the exception and I mostly do that at the truck
if I am carrying a rifle trapping or hunting it has mags and I carry the spare mag

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I spent about $230 on the gun, $28 on the little leather sling. Probably didn’t need the sling but it ALSO was too cute

Sharon, I’ll take the blame if it means you purchase something nice for yourself! You deserve it too

I went and done it, Ashley...

Fall is a nice time to invest ..... amidst the colours of my trees just glowing in their peak, cool mornings in the mid 20's, snow level lowering on the peaks all round, I ordered my Ruger bolt rifle.

My FFL dealer will jump for joy tomorrow when he's in the shop and gets the contact from Midway.

Every time I add to my small but effective collection , I think that's it, I have everything I need for every occasion under the sun. Oh well...the things I'll do to drive up the valley , among the jagged mountains with new snow , a scenic drive to my FFL , in my favorite small town.. sigh..... grin

Thank you , Ma'am, and Hoss, for your encouragement wink

I still think that Crickett is the weapon we ought to be sending to Ukraine. Hollow out the stock and drop in 100 or so CCI Stingers......sneak about 10,000 of them in to Russian occupied land with instructions to use them officer noggins. That would take whatever fun those guys are having out of it completely.

On the website Smash posted I see youth .22s from Crickett and Chipmunk. Both the same length and weight. The descriptions list the Crickett as having a polymer front sight and cocking knob, and the Chipmunk as having a metal front sight and cocking knob. Also slight variations in the stock design. Are there any other differences between the two that makes one a better choice than the other? The Chipmunk brand has been around slightly longer than the Crickett.

We took it out and shot it today. Tried to make a few adjustments but Chuckie is so tall and has really long arms so it is not at all comfortable for him to shoot. He said there is too much play in the trigger as well. I’m not sure if that is meant to be a safety feature for children or not. But I enjoyed my time shooting it. Again, this is gonna be for more up close trapping so I’m not going crazy over far accuracy; although it would be cool if I could get a few squirrels or god willing, a rabbit!!

I've had mine since I was 4 now its my little brothers great little gun.
the only thing I don't like is its really short and the sight sucks

all my opinion if you like these things about the gun ignore my comment

The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.

I have one of their bolt action pistols, customized it with Duracoat Chameleon emerald green and put a 4x Burris on it. Terrible trigger, but, it is an absolute tack driver, and it shoots shorts, longs and long rifle. my go to squirrel gun
