the one on the cart appears to have a bulge did the bullet not pass through and did you get to recover it?

You're observant!

That is the bullet. Never exited.

I was moving quickly and didn't recover it.

Winchester 140gr Silvertips 7mm-08

Sounds like a quick season is just what you needed so you can get the storm damage cleaned up. I hope your knee gives you a break on the aggravation.

to bad I always love recovering bullets and seldom do with rifle rounds. But I understand moving fast it's like that during warm youth and bow season up here.

Only ever recoverd one from the 7mm-08 and it was an 80 yard head shot upward angle she was on a hill hut along nose below eye and didn't make It out of the hide behind the skull. Back when I thought I was Carlos Hathcock. Today head shots are not something I take. Was very happy when my youngest passed a great buck this year because all he had was a head shot.

Here is why the target buck got his name...One-Eyed 9pt.

[Linked Image]

Here is the trail cam pic a fraction of a second after bullet hit him...

The other 9pt was behind the trail camera.

Congrats !!!

I had 2 hunts similar. We only can shoot one buck. In 2013 I was climbing up my ladder stand and heard a snort. Dandy 10 point at 75 yards looking dead on . Stepped down , chambered a round. Neck shot. Next year same stand . In seat at 7:05 am 7:19 killed another nice buck. I hunt my way into my syands. Never in before daylight.

I took down all my cameras, 2 ground blinds, and 2 Summit climbers. Just put the climbers and blinds up last Thursday. Never hunted them. Killed the bucks from a Millenium hang-on that I put up last fall.

Now...I feel a little lost. I don’t need any more venison, so care nothing about shooting does.

But, the hog population up there better get smart in a few weeks. The Ruger .300 BO and AGM thermal is about to go to work.

Speaking of hogs. Look at this horse-tailed brute.

Got his pic last night.

I didn't think it would take long for that feeling to kick in. Those hogs are going to get a hurting put on them.
