Lots of gadgets out there for squirrels. I’ll bet this works as well or much better than most. After skinning thousands of squirrels in my life I don’t bend over like I used to. This works awesome. I did 83 squirrels on it with great results. Cost to make is very little.
Had two damaged squirrels break in half. No problem just get a bite on the fur and keep skinning. Much more difficult with the foot method. Hope this helps someone. Wish I would have done it years ago.

Cool so you still make the regular cuts and just put the tail in the vice grips?

Looks good. If you didn't have that handy bracket you could use a quick link to attach a short length of chain to the eye-bolt and screw the chain to something, or wrap it around something. Trappers are always thinking.

Pretty slick set up,could slap it in anywhere with a couple screws.

Looks like you’re still cutting the base of tail but hook up to vice scripts instead of stepping on the tail interesting because it’s getting harder to bend over lol

Yep just cut as normal through the tail and a little down each side. The vise grips take the place of my foot. Very handy and I think my squirrels have less hair on the meat. The skin on the back legs I grab with catfish skinning pliers. Very fast and effective.
I think I enjoy squirrel hunting more than deer hunting anymore. I generally have the woods to myself. Very underrated game animal imo. Lots of fun.

I think I can smell that from here just thinking about it

the mung guy I met in the woods one time was hauling out a deer , I asked if he wanted to field dress it , nope , he takes it home and mom and grandma and if he had a wife would all take care of it , they save everything and make sausage and soup

the men hunt , the women cut it up

no wonder they can fill a trunk with squirrels , they aren't skinning them when they get home

Easiest way I have found to clean a squirrel. Ridge Runner Squirrel Gambrel, sharp knife will get it done but I like to use fish skinning pliers and game shears. Just makes it a little easier in my opinion.

I tried this twice. Still ended up ripping the tail. Great share, though!

Similar rig, but not the exact, obviously. smile I appreciate the idea!

Made some of these a few years back.
Hang from branch.

Went back to just slitting across back, two fingers in each side , and pull.
Faster than anything for me, but I try to do them warm, lol
