Talk to me about your pumpkin plot. I’ve seen others rib ya on it, but I’d like to see how you roll. It’s certainly not a typical plot choice for VA, but I’d be curious of your take on it. Always looking to change up my plots from just clovers and brassicas.

If messaging is easier, that’s cool too.

Gunnleg. Pumpkins have been my # 1 foodplots for years.
Especially for late season.
They devour them!

They eat all varieties I've tried but seem to prefer the smaller sugar pie ones the best.
Easy/ cheap to grow. They do need a fair bit of moisture to do real well though.
Here are my 2 plots this year. Deer have eaten about 1/2 of what was there.

The green (1st pic) was brassicas. They are about gone now. 2 weeks ago they were 2' high.
Brown stuff is soybean chaff that blew in off the field during a 60mph blow.

Try punching in pumpkin food plot in the search bar. I believe I've done a tutorial on how I do them.
If that don't work, I'll go through it all again. Just ask.

I plant around Labor Day in Va to take advantage of mid Oct - Nov.

How far ahead are you getting these in (60 days, 90 days…?).

Mixing anything in? Cereal Rye, wheat?

That young 5x5 walked through the back yard abit ago.
He's now at the rub tree.

Any deer you get here is a friggin Trophy.

Sorry to hear that. It's not uncommon to see 3-6 different bucks a day here. Does are almost always a given. I used to keep stats on my hunts and my kids' hunts. Believe that we carried around >80% success rate on having deer in range on hunts.

I see a lot of back and forth about 'deer management' on here. We're simply able to pass on a lot of deer due to density of deer.

I can't fathom that.

High deer densities or number of bucks? Your posted pics seem to indicate that you have the same densities.
