Great pictures! I am headed there in the morning but only chasing roosters and grouse.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Thats a young bird in that first picture. I would have had a tough time making a snap decision it was a rooster. Looks like you guys had a fun trip. Nebraska season starts this Saturday.

There are definitely days that I feel like I should have stayed up in ND. I worked there for 3 years in the mid 90s. Made some waterfowl hunting trips back there after I left, but haven't been back in several years now.

Great pics!

Hunting birds and small game is top tier in my book. Few things in hunting more fun than that.

The only reason I was able to bag that rooster is it flushed almost vertically in some trees, the sun was hitting it well (around 10:30 AM), and I saw the red in the head. We find that bird within the first hour and a half of shooting light, and it flies away safely for sure

The goal is to end up there someday myself.

I'm happy you had a good hunt.

I have to comment on people going to N.D. to waterfowl hunt. Now I'm from N.D. and while the hunting in N.D. is ok for waterfowl. If a person would drive 300 miles NW of Portal N.D you would be in the best Duck and Goose hunting spot in North America. I guided up there for 16 years and the Waterfowl hunting is 2ndvto none. And everyone let's you hunt there land. I came back from Moose hunting in Alberta and going thru Saskatchewan there were bird everywhere. The North Battlefords had more Geese then I have ever seen up there. I seen sections with 200 to 300 thousands birds in them. Specks and Snows and Honkers.

If a person is every thinking about going on a serious Waterfowl adventure think about Saskatchewan.

1lessdog.
That reminds me of a funny but stinky hunt.
I was near Portal ND calling coyotes bout 10 years ago.
I belly crawled about 100 yards through a stubble field to a knoll. Big basin below the crest.
Got set up to call with my rifle on a short bipod and noticed a horrible stench?

Looked at my chest, legs and was covered in goo...se poop.
I looked around me and their was not a square foot of ground without a pile of goose crap.
I " think" it was a harvested pea field.
Had to change clothes back at the truck but did call in 3 and killed em all.

Sorry for the hijack OP.
Heard the town he mentioned and brought back a (crappy memory).
