Very cool!
I caught one last year that brought $22 on the carcass at our fur auction. Taxidermists often want them, so maybe you can go that route if you want.

This one is staying with me. I'll probably make a hat from it.

I don't have freezer space for a whole coon either, not if I want to stay married.

Are they close to prime up there already?

Cool that you caught one.
I have one area on my trap line where I would catch one or two black coon every fall. I still have the first one I ever caught back in the early 1980s. Basically pickled it never broke it down to soft leather. I did send a couple out to Moyle years ago had them tanned. Had fedora made for the wife. One I shipped to nafa usually sold in the lower grades.
I'm sure with your skills you will figure out something to do with it.

Sometimes, depending on the style. This one isnt huge, so I may have to get creative.

Not really. All i have caught so far are small ones and 2 large females. No big boars. Leather is blue to dark blue. The big female I caught today was a touch lighter.

Thats a beaut.Itll be a great hat.
Should be enough for a hat,if you tailor it and pay attention to where you place the thinner fur.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Thanks Boco. The rings stand out in the sun. In the shed you can barely see them.

Here is an albino. Only one I ever caught, and it was out of season, so could not keep it.

Awesome!

I like that black.
I have a blond fur coon stole. Haven't seen anything unique in the wild, though. Great raccoon* loosan! Bummer you couldn't keep it .
