Holy Heck! Just went to put my boot on and felt something at the toe.
There was a Live Bat in there!
Thought it was a few leaves.......or possibly a mouse.......but as I tapped it out it winged up.
Did think to first go outside, but when the wings came out we both scrammed in opposite directions.

I've searched 100's of shoes in search of a bat in a living area, never found one in any footwear. That's not the way to find one, with your toes. I'm more worried about a big spider in my boots.

Is there a chance it scratched or bit you? It can be hard to feel or see a bit or scratch.

I wouldn’t call hiding in a boot normal behavior for a bat. Might be a sick one.

No sign of scratch on sock not foot. He seemed to be curled up asleep in toe of boot when my foot nudged into him. Then it took some boot-shaking to get him out of there.
Weird enough, but he did then fly up and out.
Now wondering about residual spit that could be in boot so they are off-my-feet for a good while.
Rabies Reminders Always Good.

It’s a virus sunlight and dehydration kills the virus you would think Lysol would kill a virus also.

Was the bat submitted for testing? If not consult your doctor ASAP and follow his/her professional medical advice.

That is exactly how I advise my clients. If I'm in possession of the bat it will be submitted for testing
