nice I have only ever traded rats for the old man that used to own the lake across the street from my first house( now rent house) they were tearing up his dam. so I picked up 6 110s and set them in the runs. caught 6 or 8 can't remember. so I have no experience really going after them like you are. thanks for posting I go over your pictures and learn a lot thanks. Your welcome

How many sets were you able to get in? Looks like a good bundle of stakes.

Love the photos - reminds me of my years in north dakota. really miss trapping rats - it is therapeutic just being out there.
Before I really even started trapping - I found a small ditch when I was in college bird hunting with rats swimming around and eating. I would often sneak down there and just watch them - was very peaceful to me just observing them in their daily activities. I think these observations really taught me to appreciate trappers even more as I firmly believe some of them are some of the most wise biologists out there. I see some of the PhD kids roll into furbearer biologists today with no trapping experience......sitting about 10 feet away may be an old high school dropout who has trapped 50 years - I know who has the better education and who I would rather have managing our species. Good stuff. I completely agree.

You can keep the ice up there Bruce.lol We been dry all fall but it looks like it will start raining Wednesday and not shut off for a week. You just have to adjust to conditions. I also got 23 rats today. Can you use colony traps in Maine?

Many years we only get a few days here before freeze up. Busting ice in waders with your shins isn't as much fun as it sounds. Keep after them and good luck.

First muskrat I ever caught was in a cross-over for nutria. I wasn't even sure what a muskrat was back then.
Good to see you getting 'em. Looks like fun.

Good haul Bruce, any ice today? Do you ever catch any mink in your muskrat sets?
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I checked today and there is VERY little rat sign on my line this year. The lake that normally will have 75-125 houses has 2.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Nice action!! Someday, if we ever get slough water levels back and stabilize for a year or two, I might have to do the old wader thing before I get too gimped up.
I hope you average more than $2 a piece put up when you sell ...
