I want to book a fishing trip to Alaska for my family. I want to get everyone into salmon and halibut and bring a bunch of fish home. For those that have fished Alaska Where and when would you suggest for next year?

so if you want to limit out and bring home alot of fish the Kenai peninsula is a great place its the most fished river out there though so keep that in mind. if looking for secluded fishing still very good go north of Anchorage to Willow and up to Denali fishing the parks highway. I fish the parks highway personally i cant stand going to alaska to fish 3 foot for someone.

I have looked into this trip several times and I'd head to Kodak and one of the resorts there.

I have been to Alaska fishing 7 times since 2016 and have made it a yearly DIY trip with 3-4 other guys. The Kenai Peninsula as mentioned above is really good and can get crowded, but the crowds can be avoided by exploring and in my opinion fishing early. We rent an RV and split the cost 4-5 ways depending on how many goes. I normally get my place tickets and RV rental no later than December of the year before we go. I plan to go up a couple days early this coming year to explore around Fairbanks and to fish for grayling.

I would honestly go to Sitka over Juneau. Just a locals opinion.

Try to book with Woody, out of Seward. After you get your 2 halibut and 3 salmon per person he takes you after cod and other fish. I went with Saltwater Safari and after 2 halibut and 3 salmon they took the poles away and I was done. Alot of unhappy fishermen on the vessel.

Kings are closed many places these days. Silvers will be soon. Most halibut fishing is 1 real halibut and a a baby. Check the Emergency Orders online as many of the regulations in the fishing regulation book haven't been in effect for years. Red snagging seems to be the only thing not dying. You have been warned.

This year July 27-28, my wife and I did halibut and cod out of Homer with Mike Wheat and the following day we did red salmon out of Soldotna on the Kenai River with Jim Rusk. Trips are a bit spendy but we had top guides and the fishing was amazing.
