To fishing rods/equipment.

I can't pass any up at yard/garage/rummage sales.

If they look decent I'll but it/them.


My wife told me yesterday I have to get rid of some of them. For a brief second I considered divorce. That's silly talk. Until I went down to the basement and started counting them. I quit counting at 750.

I have some older ones that I'll never use. So I picked out 300 of them and had a "pop-up" fishing rod sale in the front yard. I started at 9 am and by noon had sold around 200.

I went down and picked out another 200 and am going to do it again tomorrow.

She came down and was looking at my gun cabinets. I told her I have enough to pay for the divorce now don't even think about talking guns.

I know she won't, but it got a giggle out of her.

I told her I blame it on my heritage. My great grandfather and his brother were both fishermen back before the civil war. So I come by it honestly.

Right now I'm hoping she doesn't find the fishing lures I've accumulated over the years.

But is there a support group for fishing rod/equipment addicts? I know without a doubt I'll buy more by this time next year.

A kindred soul. I could fish every day for the rest of my life and not use up all the lures I've bought. And I almost bought another ten packs of Gary Yamamoto Shad Shape Worms today.

I must have 7 of them fly boxes...chock full....but maybe only use 6-8 flys

Got ovah 50 ....and most lakes ,you can only have 2 traps out...lol

I don't have many fly boxes. Maybe 3 or 4.

I do have a bunch of tackle boxes full of everything from crappie jigs up to deep sea fishing lures.

I gave a bunch to my wife's cousin who moved to Florida. He gave some to a guide down there in exchange for a trip. I told him I hope he got sick... lol

Thankyou. Showed this to my wife. I only have 40-50 and half a dozen full tackle boxes. Dont think it helped much. I got that look.

I have the same issue, but with trapping lure...could almost float a battleship with what I have.

but, I can quit anytime I want...

By definition what you are experiencing is normal behavior, not an addiction.

you got anything in a nice Medium light with good guides and a decent reel , something with a good feel

I did just go in on a big tote of old lures , jigs and such

lost a few when my son rolled the truck with the poles in the back back in 2020

There are worse addictions for sure.

I found out recently that my dad has an addiction to Viagra. My mom has been taking it pretty hard.
