I like my barrel sets with a small beaver or 1/4 of a larger beaver the barrel eliminates a lot of issues other critters can cause with other sets. Fresh or tainted some of the most popular bobcat baits are tainted bobcat meat.

Cats have no problem with slightly tainted, but in my experience, best to start off with fresh. Cats will "claim" a carcass by feeding on it and covering what they cannot consume. They will come back and uncover the remains, feed again and cover anything left again.if it is warm and it gets too badly tainted they will not come back, but canines will. You can tell when you pre bait a jackpot if it is a cat by the way they cover the half eaten beaver with trash when they are done with it.Sometimes they will move the carcass a little ways before covering it after each visit..
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I have had bobcats claim beaver carcasses that on the exterior were getting pretty ripe...but nice red meat under the slimy outside. But fresh is best.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Fresh rolled in bird seed to attract mice and shrews.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Bobcats love muskrat. They will go in the water to get it.

160user, I like that. Can do a lot with your idea of the bird seed.....jk That tip came from my adopted Grandfather and was a heck of a cat trapper in his day. He claimed that if a cat saw a "gumdrop" (meaning mouse, shrew or squirrel) in your set, he would dive in after it even if he wasn't hungry.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Fresh waterfowl is great bait also, if legal to use in your state.
