First year land trapping and have a bobcat tag here in Wisconsin. Have a small line out right now of 7 set for cats and fisher but will be adding 5 or 6 more on Wednesday. We have a lot of rain coming Wednesday night and I'm curious as to what I should do to prep my sets for rain. It's forecasted as 1 to 2 inches and haven't had to deal with anything like that yet

If you have cedar trees next to a trail you can take advantage of it. Between the overhangs keeping weather out and dry duff on the ground your sets there will still be working.

Or would it be beneficial to just make all my sets exposed trap sets? I have read that for cats they don't care if the trap and pan is completely exposed....would this technically make my set more weatherproof and not have to worry about rain and such as much?

Just use some cut up dry grass. Get some dry grass and break it apart and cover your trap with it.Works great for cat sets. The problem with peat and coverhulls is they both float if you get a lot of rain.

Waxed dirt if it’s freezing temps at night. Muddy cats at dirthole sets. Be sure to wash and dry them.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I consistantly as advocate for exposed sets and ease of weather proofing is just one of the reasons

Even my flashy dirthole sets? I can just leave trap exposed and block them in as much as I can?
