25-06 is a great caliber. I have had a Tika for several years. Fast, flat shooting. Can kill coyotes, deer, etc. I Don't know anything about Montana rifle company.

any trade for a gun is a good trade

The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.

Offshoot of a former Kimber employee IIRC. They were a big thing for a while, made halfway custom rifles for a normal price, then went under, then got bought by a bigger company. Made in Michigan currently I think?

Action based on Model 70 with CRF. They used/made them with decent components i believe

None of this is gospel, just what I vaguely remember seeing on various forums

Maybe hit gunbroker or the like and see what the going (inflated) street value is

I read that same stuff Rusty. Looks to be a nice rifle. I really like the model 70 CRF style action. I will probably trade for it. The guy is wanting a marlin 1895 45/70 guide gun i have that i never shoot and have no practical use for. Thank you

my first question is how many rounds through it , 25-06 and hand loads or factory?

next would be can you shoot it first.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

just my pesonal opinion but that is a nice gun i wouldn't trade a marlin for a brand new Browning. just make sure its not a trade you'll regret when your older

Similar story - I swapped my 7mm RUM for a Marlin 1895 in 45-70 probably 20 years ago and it was a great trade from my standpoint. I dig my 45-70. I bought the RUM when they came out because it was the fastest thing on the block. Then I realized I didn't need it and rarely ever shot it for my style of hunting. 45-70 has tipped over lots of deer and bear for me and goes hunting every year. Have to look at what you'll use.

25-06 is a heck of a round.

Looks like MRC are going for about $1200-1500 for run of the mill versions. About the same as Guide Guns. Pick your poison.

As many others have mentioned the .25-06 is a fantastic caliber to use and can handle a wide variety of Big game hunting situations with proper bullet placement of course .

It was the first caliber that when I shot a deer I seen the bullet hit the deer in the scope before I lost sight of it with the recoil ha ha

I'd suggest if possible to run a tight wet cleaning patch down the barrel to make sure there's no problem with it , I've not heard of the company who made the rifle , if you buy it let us know how it shoots .

I’ve built six custom rifles on that action of long and short and short magnum bolt face action is hybrid between the model 70 Winchester Browning a bolt, (Bolt stop) And Mauser 98 it has the internall collar.
I bought two left-handed versions and stainless steel with a standard bold face one long, one short long as chambered for 280 Ackley short chambered four 257 Roberts Ackley improved very good actions in my opinion, especially for the price when I first started buying them. they were 460 something, sorry to hear about him going out of business
