Why not have the ladder at the edge. You better use a life line. Hate to hear about your fall. At least tie off when getting in and out. That’s when most deaths from tree stands occur

Spent my entire youth hunting out of a couple stands just like them made by my grandfather, and uncle.

And then there was another, where someone mounted a table top without legs way up in a tree LOL. That was on a place my dad took me hunting... they called it "the table top", lol. Just a table top screwed down to a couple forked branches with a wooden ladder going up to it. Spent HOURS in that stupid stand bowhunting, so cold I wanted to just freeze to death and be done with it, LOL
