Your big game is likely overpopulated and doing damage to the ecosystem because of the lack of wolves. Like beaver, another keystone species too few wolves is as bad or worse than too many. Boco, All Species ,Need to be managed We're Not being Allowed ....and Thousands of wolves without any Checks and balances is just WRONG

Sorry your irked,Im a trapper, not a farmer who pretends to be a trapper.Wolves on the land mean a healthy ecosystem. I hope they catch the poachers and throw the book at them. It's very obvious once again you have a very limited ability to look beyond your vast expansive wilderness with very few people. almost all your country's people live in a very small part of your country and the rest has very few roads and extremely limited anything there. You have no clue what is going on down here.

Way too much money spent on wolves imo , to appease the unrealistic utopia dreamland of a bunch of bunny huggers Eliminating farming and hunting is part of their utopia, and wolves decimating livestock and game populations is one way to reduce/eliminate farming and hunting. Playing the long game they are. Entirely correct on WDFW,,,,, The new director is not good for the state. Only thing good i can say is the union president is fighting against them and having to be a Cop,….

Point out where in the article those wolves were shot in the act of killing livestock? They were illegally killed by poachers.

I recognize the benefit that wolves can play towards population health - they tend to take out the old, weak, sick, etc and keep numbers in check. But specifically in western big game populations those numbers are watched closely and kept in check by managed harvest. I’d hate to see less opportunities for fellow hunters and myself because somebody thinks wolves deserve to be there. Further, in Colorado as an example, the reintroduction efforts are being decided upon by urban populations who probably couldn’t distinguish a coyote from a wolf if they even go outside. There’s no scientific reasoning. And I highly doubt there will ever be an open season for managing those same wolf populations. If a wolf population establishes itself naturally then I have less of a problem with it, so long as the state allows management activities. The fact of the matter is, there’s a lot of people on the planet. Anywhere there’s overlap between humans and wolves there’s conflict.

Regarding elk and farmers.
About 30 years ago I had a friend who ranched and farmed (peas and wheat) in southeast Washington near the Blue Mountains, he had several thousand acres. Donny was a big advocate of elk.
I'll say from the outset that he was not popular with the other farmers in the area. One year he fenced off a few test plots in his peas to keep the elk out. Then at harvest, he checked the production of the test plots against the areas that the elk had access to. There was hardly any difference in the production between the two areas.
Other farmers in the area were getting huge reimbursement payments from the Department of Fish and Wildlife for "elk damage". I was on his ranch the two days that he hosted the then director of WDFW. He allowed him and his son to hunt the property for pheasant and deer during their stay. He also toured the director around his place and showed him the test plots.
Long story short; to the best of my knowledge the elk damage payment program is still in place. Lots of politics involved on all side of the issues.
Don't even get me started on the "bear damage program" in timber country.

Boco is an environmental wolffie hugger No he is just someone that can't think about anything beyond his very limited experience. pro6 can't get off his knees at the pictures of the royal family long enough to learn how to think objectively. Subject are better off not thinking just obey and comply.
