I am thinking about getting jagdterrier for duck hunting and deer recovery. Our dogs live inside with my wife and I so I need a well behaved inside family member. Does anyone have first hand experience with this breed? I have trained police dogs for obedience and tracking and I also trained labs for hunting. I am in no way an expert at training but I do have little knowledge with dog handling. If anyone knows of a breeder please pass their info along to me..thanks

I had one that would hunt pretty much anything. They are not a dog to use 20-30 days a year from what I saw, and what the guy I got mine from said. If you will hunt one nine months a year, it will only drive you crazy three. The less they are used the more of a problem they are. They are not a dog for everyone. The guy I got mine from said that most of them are given away or put down due to a lack of use. They are happiest wore out and easiest to put up with. If they are not used they will cause problems. From what you said, you would do good to get a lab. They like to please and are content to lay around.

I have one. Great dog and crazy hunting drive. She hates squirrels, coyotes and coons She didn’t do so good on the first live box we checked together a couple years ago but no complaints otherwise
