After thinking about that, I decided not to take a stab at it since it was obvious wink you weren't asking about me. frown

Hello 160,

…. If you find an active rub tree… go on dig it up and drag to your backyard, deer stand or wherever you like… the bucks will follow behind at a distance…. This works for up to 8.5 miles so long as you don’t cross a body water

… another under used technique is to run down and catch yourself a nice little buck…. Drag it to a 3.75” diameter cedar tree in your hunting area….get that thing in a full Nelson hold and aggressively rub his forehead up and down that tree until smoke starts coming off of it … that’ll burn the pre orbital scent into the bark… hope this helps

Love,

Savell

Good looking stand. Now you need to name it. Maybe the Eagles Nest or something.

Looks like he needs another year;-)

Now I feel really stupid.
I've watched many bucks rub trees and have always thought the preorbital gland was in the corner of the eyes?
Never seen them rub a tree and use that gland whilst doing so but I Have seen them many times rubbing their (forehead gland)

I'm gonna have to be vigilant and see if I can learn a new technique

I feel as if I learned something as well with gland location.

It’s nice when the hunting and trapping community gets along

Why a Cedar? Does it matter if it is Eastern White Cedar or does it need to be Western Red?

I have nothing clever to put here.

Interesting. I rarely get the floor over 8 feet off the ground and many are only 6 feet. Then again, mine are fully enclosed.

Good for you.

Some folks like to feel the wind in their face and hear the joys of nature with their ears and see the pure beauty when the sun comes up/ sets without looking through a window and listening to the Furnace humming.

wink

Modern furnaces can be silent such as a Big Buddy heater. I can hear everything I want if I open a window or two. Any other problems in the world I can solve for you? Everyone has their own taste and style in stands and I am not bashing Scott's choice. I am not sure why you are bashing mine.
