To the point made in Wolfdog's memes, I have a friend who is a high school teacher and in class one day, he was having a discussion about slavery and he told the kids that most of the slaves sold to slave traders and brought the the US in the 1600s and 1700 were sold by blacks in Africa. They would conquer other tribes through attacks and then sell the survivors as slaves.

He was called to the principal's office and the principal told him he could not say things like this in a public school. He responded that this was verifiable, accurate recorded history, but the principal said it doesn't matter, you can't tell the students these things.

Oh, another bitter one...
