We've lived in this neighborhood for 6 years now. First year, we had over 50 kids, second year, a bit over 40, third year, about 35. Steady decline. Three years ago I decided to go to full size candy bars for no more kids than we get(I always loved it, as a kid, to score a full size candy bar!). We had 5 kids this year. Neighbors across the street have lights on but nobody answers the door for the tricksters, so we gave out three full size candy bars to the 5 lucky ones who came out. We live in a metro area, not the best neighborhood, but not terrible. I think the businesses have bought off the Halloween tradition. There are several around town offering "trunk or treat" stuff and other activities. It's been bastardized by corporate here, me thinks.

We get two or 3 each year. Two so far just about time to turn light out.

was out pheasant hunting till dark then hit the neighbors to say high got invited in for a beer and some food , declined the carbs had the beer.
then cleaned my bird
wife bought candy but no one felt like standing out there for the few kids we might get.
some of my other neighbors had their porch lights on but a bowl sitting on a chair on the porch with the candy , they got tired of sitting out there in the wind waiting for the few kids.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Geez Joel...if'n I'd known you was giving out full size candy bars I would have drove the 8 miles to junction City! Dang!
None here for over 20 years. Folks don't trick or treat around here anymore...just a lame party at the fire hall.
Btw, telling those Eugene kids that was a good way to get your windows soaped! LOL

I would be amazed if we got a trick or treater here. I bought my farm in 2012 and have never had any here. The closest house across the street is 6/10ths of a mile. The closest houses on my side and on the state highway I have frontage on, are hundreds of yards. If a kid showed up here I would load him up, to reward their effort.
Keith Same here since the 80’s except it’s not 1/10’s of miles between houses but miles. I hope the little ones all have a great night and are on sugar highs until noon tomorrow.

The walk is to long to my house. That's what I thought, lol. Yet we had a group last night, first ever, been here 30 years.
