It pains me to say this, but I agree with you.

Why does it pain you?

I don’t mind wearing orange but it isn’t very aesthetically pleasing. Not like the old woolrich jackets. That’s classic
Or a buckskin jacket and a badger fur possibles bag. I want the enhanced experience of hunting, all the fanfare.

You can come Deer hunting here Smash0 and wear Blaze Pink grin since you love it so much

I guided pheasant hunters for many years. I haven’t looked at the stats lately but swinging into another hunter used to be the number one reason for folks getting shot hunting upland birds. So yes always wear orange. I also have it on when trapping coyotes during firearms deer season. I have a hard time not being a statistic by myself. I don’t need help from some moron with a 270.

It’s required for small game hunting in Pennsylvania.

I grew up doing drives all of opening weekend , we maybe sat the last hour of each day.

blaze orange , big arm signals , we ran starts on a time, no radios or cell phones.
The drive leader waved in a big arm circle you repeated it down the line then everyone moved at once, line back up at every fire break restart on arm signal. keep track of the drivers beside you and mind your zone.

before it was orange here is was red it became orange in the 70s

as a stander it was very very apparent who you could see the best and the soonest
solid blaze and more of it gets seen sooner.

there is a guy in a camp near us his orange coat is probably from the 70s and is so faded it is nearly the color of yellow leaves his hair is white , that crew still does a fair number of drives

we only do a few now.

I dispise the color blaze orange.
I realized it's important to wear during certain seasons but I just hate seeing it.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

The guy in the bottom of your scope is probably happy that you see it. That is kind of the point.

I wore an orange carhatt hoodie last year while setting traps. Was told by a friend he saw me off the county road a half mile away. I quit wearing orange.

Yes I absolutely wear orange when upland bird hunting. No reason to get Dick Cheney’d by anyone around me.
Heck I wear a little orange when checking traps too. Lots of deer seasons run late here plus the coyote pickup army out in full force, and it’s not worth someone shooting at me because they may see movement in distance. Brown would be worst color I could wear color.
Had some bullets zip into overhead trees one time years ago when I was checking traps and the local coyote hunters decided to shoot down into the draws to chase coyotes out.
I hunkered down and waited em out. Had a full clip in my 10/22 trapping gun and another in my pocket, and was fully prepared to send some back. They drove off as I was walking back out and waving my arms. They just shot into the timber and had no concern there might be someone down there.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Don't wear orange in a pumpkin patch, it'd be like camo.

See I knew I was going to get a Dick Cheney comment , but for the life of me could not remember his name earlier today.
