I finally caught my first ever coyote. It was a huge surprise to me today as I wasn't expecting it. I have been trying for the last 5 years but have been really trying for the last 2 years. I finally caught it on a dirt hole set with a Duke 550 guarding it. All I had for bait and lure was Dakota Line Predator bait by John Almquist, sheep's wool, and red fox urine. It was a very beautiful male coyote, it only weighed 28 pounds. I'm freezing it whole so I can have my fur buyer skin out the paws and everything to be taxidermy tanned. I'm hoping I can catch a few more this year but it has made my year entirely by finally catching one. Here's a couple of pictures. It was a very mixed bag of trapping as I also caught 3 rats, a good sized beaver, and a coon in a #1 Victor Stoploss.

congratulations that will be the first of many. I rember walking into New of the set with my first coyote in it not expecting anything yet again and there it was. It took a minute to register then back to the truck for the catch pole.

Hope you have another in your remake on your next check.

Way to go man, he is a beauty!

My first coyote had me happy and sad at the same time. Was completly covered in mange so I had to leave it in the woods.

Good work,
I was 8 years trapping before I cought my first 1st coyote.
We had almost 0 coyotes where I grew up in north central IA.
My first one was in a pocket set on the Raccoon River in central IA .
And my second was in a 220 set in the mouth of a culvert lol.
