I’m out playing in the snow. I sure feel for you guys that trap in this all the time. Everything seems harder. I did get into some good marten country yesterday, the snow was over my knees, had to dig the truck out once. Have been setting a few coyote traps too but it sure slows things down. Next nine days shows nice weather so all my sets will look different. Thinking this might not be the most successful week of trapping for me.
Have seen one small bear track hope it goes the other way. They are a pain. I’ll try and get some pictures as the week goes on.

Geez I miss Marten trapping. It is tough to get excited about gearing up for them when the limit is two.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Had a bear messing with my traps today on the line.
He carried away a mink box.dont know where he took it but must have been far.Maybe he wanted it for a pillow when he beds down for winter.
I hope he doesnt blunder into a wolf snare.

Sure could use to see a few pictures with snow! I know I'm weird that way; but I doubt I'll be able to get out this year frown

The bear either ate it or smashed it. LOL. They behave like punks this time of year, it seems.

When do they tend to go to sleep for the winter?

I looked for it for a couple hundred yards all around-gone.
Usually they pick up the box and carry it a ways until the big chunk of beaver meat falls out, then they drop the box(sometimes crushed) and eat the beaver.
I hate bears that start checking my trapline in November.

So far just setting traps, first check tomorrow not expecting much not as many traps to check as there will be. Today it hit 40 so the snow will be going away I’m hoping. I have seen 3 bear tracks and two wolf tracks crossing the road. The wolfs are new to me but I was expecting to start seeing them. Couple years ago I caught a bear and had ODFW come dart it. They asked lots of questions about wolfs, so it’s not a surprise they are in the area.

Snow has been beating me up bad, normally I set out two lines, this year nope. I took a drive on the second line seen two coyotes at different locations. Everyplace I normally set is under a foot of snow. I did connect on 3 martens today. Here’s some pics.

I also started harvesting some greenery for my wife’s Christmas wreath operation. We don’t make a ton of them but try and have it pay for Christmas extras. Found Juniper, Noble Fir, and a Hemlock that will look nice. Also gathered a bunch of giant pine cones. Hoping we don’t get much snow that’s predicted for the weekend. If it does I’ll be pulling my traps and going back to trapping city animals.

Looks good! I sure hope we get more snow & cold than last winter….it was brutal. I had a couple badly tainted wolves that didn’t make it to auction, but I was able to find a place for them.
