Set a couple dirt hole sets close by , 8-10 yards.
Many doubles on that set.
Problem was every hunter or trespasser, could also see it from a distance.

It worked great, just it stood out too much during the fur boom , couldn't keep a catch or traps , they were gone while you were at work or sleeping.
Now that fur is worthless, it's a good set. But there's others that are better.
What you're planning is a mouse hotel , yes it will work .
Just be careful of birds of prey.

If memory serves, I read an article somewhere by Charles Dobbins noticing foxes turning over dried “cow patties”, catching and eating bugs that would be found there. I’ll see if I can find it or maybe it was a dream. lol

Asa Lenon spoke of this on here.
In one sentence, no pics or movies.
The cool kids didn't like it,
dirt holes were the in thing
It works.

In these hay sets a person should use a larger size trap because of the excessive duff in the set?? I might have tried them years ago with the traps buried in the pile. Now I set the trap on the out side and blend well. Plus the pile isn't as big.
