Good solid looking boxes.Whats with the diamond shaped thingy?
Make sure your slots are narrow, like a quarter inch so your trap is solid in any configuration and doesnt flop arouns or fall out when marten and fisher crawl all over the outside of the box including the springs.

Opening has to be 4"x4".If you turn it diamond shape you get a bigger opening. Then its like 5 3/4" from point to point.Going to use them in slanted and straight up and down trees mostly.

The animal rights folks were crying that without the reduced entrance size that a canadian linx would get caught in one. So the state caved and changed the law.

If there is a closed season on lynx probably a good idea, because lynx will stick their head or paw in a box.

I catch one in marten boxes every couple or three years.
You are much more likely to catch them in a fox snare,Have they restricted your fox snaring too?

They did a bunch of tests with live lynx and diffrent size openings before deciding on the 3 we can use.We would have been able to use a 5 inch opening with the straight in exclusion boxes with the 5 inch or smaller sized conibears but 1 baby lynx managed to get in the box with the 5 inch opening. This doesn't make any sense as in the fall and winter during trapping season there are no baby lynx.

What are you calling a baby lynx?.
Plenty of lynx kits caught in winter Some years there are quite a few kits in the lynx harvest..
A kit is classified as a pelt under 32 inches.they are small.

Did they restrict your fox snares, way more chance to catch a lynx in a fox snare.

We have a similar deal here with the Wolverine.
They are making a comeback and are expanding their range east and south. We have some but they are protected.
Our federation had worked with the bios and identified the main sets that wolverines were being caught in,specifically wolf snares.
We were not restricted from snaring wolves but trappers were encouraged to do their due diligence not to catch wolverines..
When I see wolverine tracks on my trapline I will close all my wolf snares until it moves off my line.
A trapper neglecting to do their due diligence in that regard could be charged and if he was negligent it would be appropriate.
I would like to see a season on wolverine here in the future so it is in our own intrest to help with their recovery.

WOW,that sucks.Sounds like southern Ontario in farmcountry, the stupid farmers and deer hunters got snares banned there a long time ago,but our federation got snaring re instated but only cable restraints.

The area of Minnesota where I live and trap has a Lynx protection area east of U.S. highway 53. Too many restrictions on snares for me.
Thus the name "Ruled Out"

Looking good Bruce.
Youll be piling up the marten and fisher with those.
You got lots of beaver for bait?

Boco...you cannot trap on a beaver dam in Maine either.

If I am wrong ...Bruce will chime in
