Time to tell all of us what you've read recently. Give us a title! What'cha readin'?
1. Steinbeck - Grapes of Wrath - good read; depressing 2. Steinbeck - Travels with Charlie - perhaps Steinbeck's worst book, in my opinion.
Books for sale on Amazon, Barnes & Noble etc. Poetic Injustice The Last Hunt Wild Life Long Way Home

A fun read. Bob was a college buddy of mine and an excellent writer with a wicked sense of humor. He made this trip long before the wall came down. He had to first travel to Finland to arrange a visa...hence the confusion about his nationality while in mother Russia.

Different folks like different writing styles and content.
I've read all four of the Lonesome Dove novels and thought they were great.
But then again I've recommended books that I thought were great to friends and family and they were like, "Meh, not so much."
Likewise I had books recommended to me that were given rave reviews and I struggled to get through them.
Eh...wot?

I read a little Steinbeck (relatively) recently too: East of Eden. Deeply disturbing and a bit depressing, but it captures something close to the heart of life in this crazy mixed up world we live in, all of it centered around one Hebrew word, timshal. Good book. I also read CS Lewis's Space Trilogy within the last year. That Hideous Strength was excellent. I hope to make time to read that one again someday. Currently, for the kids' evening read-aloud, we're in the middle of the Harry Potter series, just beginning Order of the Phoenix. I've read those before, but they're new for my younger two kids. They're having a great time with them. For my own personal reading, I am currently neck-deep in a commentary on Numbers by L. Michael Morales, which is fantastic but probably not for the faint-of-heart. Just finished Morales's book on Leviticus, Who Shall Ascend the Mountain of the Lord, which is equally mind-blowing - at least if you're interested in Bible nerdery. Other recent reads are as follows (you can probably guess which were shared with the kids):
The Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan The Wingfeather Saga series by Andrew Peterson The Princess Bride by William Goldman The Once and Future King by TH White Biblical Critical Theory by Christopher Watkin Longing to Know by Esther Lightcap Meek All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy

I also read CS Lewis's Space Trilogy within the last year. That Hideous Strength was excellent. Perelandra is my favorite of the three, but That Hideous Strength is prescient.

A book I've read twice and recommend is "Honor Among Thieves" by Jeffrey Archer.
One day you'll find someone who is obsessed with you. It's probably going to be a dog. But, it is what it is.
