Really don’t want to boil my snares because of the humid swamp I trap in, I’m concerned about rust. I was thinking of break cleaner and a formula one dip for speed. What do you think?

Are they really that oily? I would think you could just dip them.

Yes, was surprised how greasy they are. I got them today and would like to put them out this weekend.

I don't know about that then, no matter what you do they'll stink to high heaven (to a critter).

Gonna have to get the factory grease out one way or another otherwise they won't hold the dip, and they'll smell like grease/oil

Way to oily to except dip. Just sprayed them with brake cleaner and they’re clean to the touch so I’m gonna put in front a fan and see what they look like tomorrow 🤙

You can use carb cleaner or any of the Super Clean products made to cut grease for autos. Dawn dish soap in hot water cuts grease but requires the stove and a pot. I have even used 409 with good results. If you are worried about scent, after you rinse in H2O dip them in some alcohol (rubbing, denatured etc.). On the line heading to the site(s) dip creek or fresh water that you may have BERFORE you hit the salt and go set them. MA nature has a way evening scents, sights, and sounds to her surroundings. My experience ............ the mike

Simmer them in baking soda water. Might need to change the water once. Skim the oil off the surface before removing the snares. Done hundreds of snares that way.
